But some Minnesotans continue to suffer disproportionately from tobacco-related diseases. The reality today is that smoking—as well as other forms of tobacco use—remain the norm in many minority and low-income communities.

The week of July 4 was a horrible week. On July 7, I was halfway to The Improve Group’s office when I learned that Philando Castile had been killed by a St. Anthony police officer.
As we are looking forward to our new office, we are very excited to share our new community room with all of you! We designed our space wanting it to be a hub for people doing important work to make communities better. As we get ready to open it to the public, we want to know what needs our space can fill for you!
This new space can be configured in multiple ways to support different types of events. To give you a sense of the size, it will seat approximately 35 people classroom-style.

OVP’s model is based on the belief that to empower thriving, self-reliant communities we must empower communities to meet their own basic needs, train local leaders, and create new opportunities focused on women.
