There’s something very exciting about to happen all across the state of Minnesota! Starting next month, 8,000 Minnesotans living with a range of disabilities will be invited to participate in the Olmstead Quality of Life Survey. The survey will help State leaders better understand how to expand choices and community integration for the more than 500,000 people living with disabilities in Minnesota.
All students need and deserve a safe space in which to learn and grow. But today, approximately 22 percent of students between the ages 12-18 report being bullied at school during the school year.
Over the past few months, we have been telling you about our impending move. We are excited to share with you that we are (finally) officially moved!
Just across the parking from our previous office, our new space is on the third floor and is fully accessible. Our team members are in one open and collaborative area, with several meeting spaces throughout the office designed for client meetings, collaborative brainstorming, wellness activities, and more.

Over the last several decades, tobacco use has dropped significantly here in Minnesota and across the country. But some Minnesotans continue to suffer disproportionately from tobacco-related diseases. The reality today is that smoking—as well as other forms of tobacco use—remain the norm in many minority and low-income communities.

The week of July 4 was a horrible week. On July 7, I was halfway to The Improve Group’s office when I learned that Philando Castile had been killed by a St. Anthony police officer.
As we are looking forward to our new office, we are very excited to share our new community room with all of you! We designed our space wanting it to be a hub for people doing important work to make communities better. As we get ready to open it to the public, we want to know what needs our space can fill for you!
This new space can be configured in multiple ways to support different types of events. To give you a sense of the size, it will seat approximately 35 people classroom-style.
Approximately 20 percent of Minnesotans are living with a disability. And living means doing just that—today people with disabilities are working, going to school, and accomplishing extraordinary things in every sector and in every community across our state. But there are still many barriers to break down.
