Katherine is passionate about supporting efforts to prevent gender-based violence. Outside of work, she finds joy in reading, running, and nurturing lofty baking goals.

Communications
Katherine applies her writing abilities and attention to detail in writing and editing final reports, proposals, and newsletter articles. She has contributed to in-depth findings reports; executive summaries; journal articles; and case studies. She draws on her storytelling experience and synthesis skills from working as a journalist for several years before joining The Improve Group.
 
Consulting
Through lending insight in the inception and sharing phases of projects, Katherine works with clients and project teams to design products that are useful and meaningful to their intended audiences. Her approach to working with clients is to listen first, think ahead, and draw connections across projects and experiences. She encourages a focus on audiences, key messaging, branding, and tone for reports and other project deliverables.
 
Gender-based violence
Katherine has passion and developing expertise in the topic of gender-based violence from project work at The Improve Group; experience reporting on this issue; and volunteering with anti-violence organizations. She has contributed to projects with CAWS North Dakota (the state’s domestic and sexual violence coalition), End Abuse Wisconsin, the North Dakota Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Minnesota Department of Health’s Injury and Violence Prevention Section. Prior to joining The Improve Group, Ms. Lymn was a reporter focused on social issues; in North Dakota, for example, she co-wrote an in-depth, award-winning series that documented the increase of sex trafficking during the oil boom. Katherine has volunteered with organizations focused on ending violence, including the Center for Victims of Torture, Tubman, and Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs.
