The Minnesota International NGO Network (MINN) will be hosting the fourth annual International Development Exchange Action (IDEA) Summit on October 21. This conference is designed to bring together leaders from nonprofit organizations, foundations, donor groups, the private sector and educational institutions with a professional and personal interest in international work and a passion for assisting others. This year’s theme is Reimagining International Development: Defining Purpose & Success.

The Improve Group will be facilitating three sessions at this year's event:

Image Grouping: Innovative data collection tool when language is a barrier

Image Grouping can address several barriers to collecting data, such as literacy and engagement. Respondents use images and a grid or other graphics to provide quantitative data, allowing the evaluator to test the relative importance, quality, or other characteristics of the indicators being collected. In this session, we will be training attendees on developing the key components of the tool and encouraging a discussion of its different applications in the field.

Creative M&E: Using Stories to Engage Stakeholders and Inform Unintended Outcomes

Working with our partner Jill Lalonde from OneVillage Partners, This session will explore the Most Significant Change (MSC) methodology and how organizations can use less traditional M&E tactics to both engage stakeholders and discover complex program dynamics and outcomes that more traditional approaches may not capture.

Partnerships in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E): Scoping your project and selecting a consultant

During this session, We will discuss what factors to consider when determining if you should consult with an external evaluator. We will also walk through the elements of writing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to succesfully receive information that will help you select an evaluator.  Attendees will also leave with an understanding of how to select a consultant that is the best fit and what strategies will help make the most out of a partnership with an evaluation consultant.

We hope to see you there!
